A small group of independent filmmakers in Los Angeles are preparing to shoot a film about a photographer with a germ phobia and a secret: she is HIV positive. Their very original story, titled “GNORML” (pronounced “Normal”), has a unique element in that the photographer is a female, and on a mission to overcome the stigma associated with being HIV positive, as well as find out what exactly it means to be so-called normal. She builds a white box room to isolate her photography subjects due to her germ phobia, then invites a variety of colorful individuals to pass before her lens.
One of the elements that mark this film project as particularly uncommon is that the filmmakers are creating an actual photo book of these edgy images to accompany the movie. The best way to get a sneak peak into what this is all about is to check out their Kickstarter campaign or the project website. Be sure to fund it quick – time is running out. Only $1 gets you a copy of their screenplay. Where do you find bargains like that coming out of Hollywood?
